Privacy Policy

This privacy policy in short: we collect only what we need to answer your questions and deliver what you buy, we do not sell your data, and you can ask us to correct or delete it.

CIVL privacy policy: how your personal data is used and protected

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data CIVL (civl.in) collects, why, and the choices you have. We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the rules made under them, as they apply to us.

What we collect

  • Data you give us. When you use Ask CIVL or write to us, we collect your name, email address, state and your message. When you buy a template (once available), we collect your name, email address and the details needed to deliver it and issue a receipt.
  • Payment data. Payments will be processed by our payment provider (Razorpay). Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the provider’s secure pages; CIVL does not see or store them.
  • Usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools record technical data such as IP address, browser, device, pages visited and time of visit.
  • Cookies. We use cookies needed for the site to work, and may use analytics and advertising cookies as described below.

Please do not send us Aadhaar, PAN, bank account, passport or other identity numbers, or sensitive details about your health or family, through Ask CIVL. We do not need them to answer a general question.

Why we use your data

  • To reply to your question and to improve our guides (questions may be used, without your name or contact details, as the basis of new guides or FAQs).
  • To deliver purchased templates and send receipts.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and understand how the site is used.
  • To send you updates, only if you have chosen to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We may use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use CIVL, and advertising services (such as Google AdSense) to show ads. These third parties may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can control cookies in your browser settings and manage personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run CIVL — such as our web host, email, analytics, advertising and payment providers — under appropriate terms, or when the law requires it. If you ask for a done-for-you service that is provided by a separate business, we will tell you who that business is and share your details only with your consent.

How long we keep it

We keep Ask CIVL messages for up to 24 months, purchase records for as long as tax and accounting laws require, and technical logs for a short period. After that we delete or anonymise the data.

Your rights

Subject to the law, you can ask to access, correct, update or erase your personal data, withdraw consent you have given, and nominate another person to exercise your rights. Write to us at civlindia1@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

We use reasonable security measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

CIVL is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has sent us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Grievance contact

For any question or complaint about this policy or your data, contact the CIVL Grievance Officer at civlindia1@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.

  • You can ask to access, correct or erase your data at any time.
  • We keep data only as long as needed for the purpose or as the law requires.

Your rights under this privacy policy
