This disclaimer in short: CIVL explains the law in plain English, but it is general information, not legal advice for your situation.

Last updated: 15 October 2026
Please read this disclaimer carefully before using civl.in (“CIVL”, “we”, “us”). By using this website you accept it.
General information only
Everything on CIVL — guides, checklists, FAQs, templates, calculators and answers to questions — is general information published for educational purposes. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified advocate, chartered accountant, company secretary or other professional who knows the facts of your case.
No lawyer–client relationship
Reading CIVL, downloading a template, using a tool or writing to us through Ask CIVL does not create a lawyer–client or any other professional relationship. CIVL is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation, and does not advertise or solicit work for any advocate or law firm.
Bar Council of India rules
Under the rules of the Bar Council of India, advocates may not advertise or solicit work. CIVL is an independent information platform. Nothing on this website is intended to advertise, solicit or invite work for any advocate, and nothing on it should be read that way. If we ever list professionals or services, we will do so only in a manner permitted by law.
Accuracy and changes in law
We write each guide from official sources such as the relevant Act, rules, government notifications and official portals, and we show the date each guide was last updated. Even so, laws, fees, forms, portals and timelines change often and can differ from state to state and office to office. CIVL does not guarantee that any information is complete, current or correct for your situation. Always check the official source before you act, and keep track of limitation periods and deadlines yourself.
Templates and tools
Our templates and calculators are starting points. Adapt every template to your facts and to the rules of your state, and have important documents reviewed by a professional before you sign, send or file them. Results from our calculators are estimates; the amount actually payable is the amount fixed by the relevant authority.
Not a government website
CIVL is not a government website and is not connected to any government department, court, tribunal or authority. Where we link to official portals, you will be dealing directly with that authority. CIVL does not charge you any government fee and does not file applications on your behalf unless a service says so clearly.
Third-party links and advertising
CIVL may link to other websites, display advertisements and carry affiliate links, for which we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We are not responsible for the content, products or services of third parties, and a link or advertisement is not an endorsement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, CIVL and its team are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, any information, template or tool on this website. You use the website at your own risk.
